Regarding the recent annual vehicle inspection in China, since October, Chinese car owners who have had their cars inspected should have found that this year's annual inspection is much stricter than before, especially OBD inspection, which has become a big problem. Even if the car is in good condition, as long as the OBD inspection has not passed, it must be scrapped.
Why is China's vehicle inspection so strict now? This is mainly because in September, China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Transport, and the State Administration for Market Regulation organized relevant departments in provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities to carry out special rectification actions for motor vehicle emission inspection agencies. In short, the weight of environmental protection inspection is getting heavier and heavier, especially OBD inspection. If it is strictly enforced, it will be impossible to get away with it.
Therefore, do a self-inspection before the annual inspection, and solve the problems first, so that you don't have to worry too much about the annual inspection.
OBD detector
OBD detection is to read the engine data through the vehicle's computer interface. To perform this test, you need an OBD detector. You can go to a 4S store for testing, or you can buy an OBD detector for more than 100 yuan. You can use it by plugging it into the car. You can also monitor data in real time at ordinary times, and you can drive with peace of mind.
There are three main reasons why OBD detection fails:
1. The fault light is on
2. More than 2 items of readiness are not completed
3. Data cannot be read
Let's talk about them one by one.
1. The fault light is on
How to solve the problem of the fault light on? Of course, it is to eliminate the fault light.
After the OBD detector is inserted into the OBD interface, it will automatically scan the vehicle status. After the scan is completed, click "Clear fault code" and the fault light will disappear. But please note that it is not all right after it is eliminated. After clearing the code, restart. If the light is no longer on, it means that your fault light is a false alarm. If the fault light still exists after clearing, it must be repaired according to the cause of the fault.
2. More than 2 items of readiness are not completed
What is the ready state? That is, after the fault code is cleared for the last time, when the monitoring function represented by the ready state has been run and the conclusion of whether there is a fault or not is drawn, this ready state should be set to "completed". Otherwise, the ready state is "not completed".
The first possible reason for the incomplete ready state is that the fault code is cleared after maintenance, and some software ready states need to be re-verified. Even if the fault light is not on, there will be an uncompleted ready state item, which needs to be fully driven before testing.
The second is that there is indeed a fault in the relevant components, such as oxygen sensors and three-way catalytic converters. However, this situation can generally be detected. After the overall inspection of the whole vehicle, we can also perform multiple separate tests such as batteries and throttles.
The third is that the driver has a bad habit of using the car. After the vehicle is powered on, the on-board computer (ECU) will self-check the vehicle status, and all the instrument lights will light up. After the self-check is completed, the instrument lights will go out one after another. At this time, starting the vehicle again is the correct starting operation. Repeatedly self-check and then start, so that the ECU remembers the correct steps.
3. Unable to read data
If the device cannot be read, it means that the OBD system cannot communicate with the detection device. In this case, first check whether the OBD interface is dusty, corroded, or whether the line is loose. If it still doesn't work, it is a problem of protocol compatibility, but this problem rarely occurs in the detection field.
In fact, in addition to being used for annual inspections, OBD detectors are also very useful for daily travel. Every time the vehicle is started, the super instrument will automatically scan and detect and diagnose the entire vehicle, making it safer to travel long distances.
