There are many possible problems that may cause the air-fuel mixture to be lean: Defective or contaminated airflow sensor, intake vacuum leak, dirty fuel filter, etc. There are certain tests to be performed to find the exact cause of the problem. Common problems with Ford engines are defective airflow sensors and vacuum leaks.
So, replacing the O2 sensors for nothing may cost you up to $ 600. By using this simple and low cost obdii CAN scanner
You can save Hundreds and Hundreds Dollars. The internet is full of Forums dedicated to you our make of car and with valuable advice form users that did repair their our cars.

Good informations!
nice post, “common problems with Ford engines are defective airflow sensors and vacuum leaks”, you are right.
It’s true about how much money you can save. I have a 1998 Ford Truck and I really wish I had an obd2 scanner before taking it in to get it repaired. I know a lot about cars but when you don’t have the heavy equipment, the tools or the time to do the work, your still blind to some degree when taking your vehicle in. Unless you wait around at the shop until they’re working on your vehicle and they let you come in and show you whats going on, which would probably violate there insurance policy, you can’t really know what they saw and what there decisions based on. These little devices give you sight into your vehicle before you go the the shop. Unless your best friend is a master mechanic, these inexpensive obd2 scanners will save you a ton of money over the lifetime of your vehicle.
That is what I’ve been telling people for years.
Thanks for your comment OBD2 guy !
